How I got my baby to sleep through the night....

So as I posted a comment on my friend Colleen's blog over at Classy Mommy, I decided to share my experience with everyone here on my blog!

When my son was 5 months old I decided to participate in a video diary for Baby Center (long story how this can to be so I will spare you). Looking back now, what was I thinking for taking on such an undertaking AND with my 1st child!? Postpardum craziness I tell you!!...

So view this video & you will see a VERY candid experience of what I went through trying to get my son to sleep through the night at 5 months old using the Ferber Method. Now just make sure you then read my update interview because in the end, my most valuable lesson was to listen to my OWN maternal instincts! I stopped reading baby books, watching baby shows, etc...because (for me) it just stressed me out too much. And my husband said one day, "Margie, ultimately, they're all (meaning doctors and authors) just trying to make money...."

I couldn't do the Ferber method. It seems barbaric to me. But I'm glad it works for some people. I'm also glad you listened to your heart in the end. ;)

Sorry I've been MIA lately! Hope you are doing well. This pregnancy is much harder than Ryan's was and working is not making it any easier! I only have 3 more days of work left...can't wait!

I just watched the video. WOW...first, congrats for being brave parents to document this! I don't think we would have been so brave! Second, I guess I got lucky in the eating and sleeping department. Ryan since birth has been a good eater (except the toddler pickness we are experiencing now!) and sleeper! I breastfeed Ryan for 13 months. He would always fall asleep at night while breastfeeding and I would put him the crib with his nuk. Never had an issue. So I never once read a book about the different sleep methods.

I hope the next one is just as easy but I know each child is different. Just crossing my fingers that she likes to sleep as much as Ryan! ;)

We are about to transition Ryan into his "Big Boy" room! I am nervous about going from crib to twin bed! Any advice??

We only have less than 4 weeks to go! Yay! :)
