Finally...my L&D story

So I guess it's time to post my labor and delivery story....I know some are anxious to hear!? Well I have to say it's not that exciting. With my son, it was much more eventful (waking up in the morning w/labor pains, calling the doctor, rushing to the hospital, epidural ;D...) however with Anna, things were a little different....

My due date was on Sunday, June 22nd and the Thursday before, my doctor said to go ahead and set-up an appointment for an induction since she thought Anna would be a big baby, I was VERY uncomfortable, and we were worried about how "fast" baby would come. (I was only in labor with Nick for 6 hours - from beginning to end)!

*Uuhh....can I just tell you that I felt a tick crawling on my forehead just now!!!??? I just flushed that sucker down the toilet*

So back to my story....well I made an appt. to go in to Paoli Hospital on Monday 6/23 but I still had to call the morning of, to be given an exact time. I called at 7 am...they asked me to come in at 8 am...I was there by 8:30 am ...we "checked in" (like it's a hotel or something) and I got started on my IV of antibiotics (tested + for GBS). The nurse started me on potosin around 9:30 am....Doc broke my water (gross! It "slowly broke" naturally w/my son)....my contractions started....they intensified....I asked for an epidural....received it about 1/2 hour later....felt REALLY good....then next thing I know the Doc was in again and told me to start pushing....about 6 pushes later my husband announced that we had a baby girl!!!!

So all in all I had another wonderful birth experience, with Anna only taking 4 hours!? I am so glad I went in to the hospital to be induced. Little Anna was born weighing in at 8 lbs. 10 ounces and 20 inches long :-) We are all doing as well as can be expected right now and I promise to post a bunch of pics soon.

Well I am off to nurse the baby.....

aww, sounds like a pretty "easy" induction and birth. i'm happy it went well for both you and anna! i hope when i have my next one, if that happens, my l & d is like that & not a repeat of my 1st.

I am so glad to hear that your induction went well and there were no complications! My induction with Ryan was HORRIBLE!

I think Girls like to come into the world a lot faster than boys! All labor stories I hear from friends who had girls, say that it was fast and without complications.

Congrats again- girls are FUN aren't they?! ;)

margie - so thrilled it went so beautifully for you. if you had not been induced i'm sure it would have been a race to get to the hospital and a 2 hour or less type deal! anna is adorable. can't wait to set up a date to visit. xo col

Oh my gosh! You're fantastic at delivering babies! Four hours for an almost nine pound baby! You're my hero!!!

I'm here for the pep talk, Margie! You can do it! Stick to your guns! Breastfeeding is awesome for you and baby. I'm still losing weight nineteen months later. It's insane, I know lol.
My Anna used to fall asleep a lot, too when I nursed her. It's just because your little baby Anna is still a newborn. I had to strip Anna a lot. I would take her clothes off to stimulate her, rub her back, scratch her belly gently, just about anything so she would stay awake through a feeding. Little Anna will become more alert in the coming weeks and it won't be such an issue.
Congrats again!!! =D
