Overwhelmed!!!???....

Ok...so here goes...I am sooo frustrated with my son today, I want to scream! He has picked up "potty talk" from other kids and keeps saying it to get a reaction out of me. If I ignore him he just says it more til I finally breakdown and completely lose it with him. However if I give him time-outs or send him to his room....they don't seem to really work since he keeps persisting with the behavior. So I don't feel like I am getting through to him either way. And it's not just the actual "potty talk" it's how he's saying it and his behavior while doing it. I resorted to soap in the mouth today (which I am upset about because I always said I wouldn't do what my mom did)...go figure!? Ughhh...I just keep telling myself, "It's just a phase!" I hope I am right ;-) Thanks for listening....

I did that once to Kaitlyn. hen one day I find her in the bathroom and she said to me "I have soap in my mouth" I ash her why and she says to me "because I said a dirty word", then she puts the bar of soap in her mouth. So much for that.

ahhhh boys! gotta love 'em. I have been VERY lucky not to experience potty talk yet. (wow...I wonder what words he could have learned at such a young age?!) I do however get back talk and screaming on occasion. thank goodness time out is still on my side but I am sure there will come a day when that will not be an option either. I can never use his room as punishment because he likes to trash it...which in turn drives me even more crazy!

as for the soap thing...that's mild! my parents were big on tobassco sauce (I think I got that once and never said a cuss word again!...and I believe the word was "screwed up"...yeah my mom was a little too crazy with what she thought was potty mouth. lol

anyhoo, I am sure it is a phrase. I keep hearing that 3 is the new 2 soooo we have a long year ahead of us! lucky huh?! ;)

remember to take time for yourself when you have bad days like this. and you know I can totally relate with the bad behavior (if you've been keeping up with my blog) ...Ryan has not been an angel and I feel like ripping my hair out some days too.

how is school going for him other wise?

Oh, we have been the soap route. And what's crazy is, it's not the soap in the mouth thats the worst....its the aftermath. The soap stuck in the teeth and requires a lot of brushing.

Its awful, but at the time, I was at a loss as to what to do.

We too have a potty mouth over here. Although today she seems to understand what is bad and what isn't. It just took a while for her to grasp it. We do have slip-ups but not nearly as often.

Good luck....and just know...its a phase!
